Over the past five years, the BLK JOY Festival has evolved into a community-centered initiative rooted in culture, connection, and wellbeing, engaging thousands of attendees and serving as a model for how culturally grounded experiences can strengthen community health.

What began as a celebration of Black joy has grown into a platform that brings together community members, organizations, and professionals to increase access to resources, expand awareness, and deepen engagement. While many have experienced the BLK JOY Festival as a high-energy community event, its design has always been intentional.

Through this initiative, we have:

• Connected community members to local health resources, services, and information

• Elevated Black-owned businesses and organizations through direct community engagement

• Created meaningful opportunities for interaction between community members and health professionals

More than an event, the BLK JOY Festival demonstrates that culturally grounded engagement can drive measurable improvements in knowledge, confidence, and community connection while advancing more effective and responsive approaches to community health.
